I have asked many of my Jewish friends through the years what they would have done if they had lived in Nazi Germany during the religious persecution. Would they have resisted? Would they have worn the yellow star of David? At what point would they have seen their country going down that slippery slope and done something about it? Would it have been during a nationally televised debate between two members of the Socialist party running for President?

When one refers to a candidate from the Republican party as being intolerant because he acknowledges Christ as his favorite political philosopher? Was Bush supposed to lie to appease Al Gore’s religious litmus test?

If acknowledging that Christ is your favorite political philosopher earns you the badge of intolerance, then the vast majority of Americans could be walking around with yellow crosses stitched to their clothing, if Al Gore is elected.

Didn’t we learn anything from Hitler’s selective persecution against a specific religion?

Can someone please tell Al Gore that lesson, before he grows one of those silly little mustaches?

Have you heard the news? Lady Justice has just had laser surgery on her eyes. She is no longer blind. Actually… she got the surgery just before the impeachment hearings of President Clinton.

Although he classifies lying under oath as defending the Constitution, there are American citizens who served time in jail for the exact same crime of perjury under the exact same conditions.

Remember when we learned of members of congress taking a private, recorded conversation, between two other members of congress, when NEITHER knew they were being recorded… and using it against them? Nothing was said or done about this illegal and highly unethical activity.

Now Linda Tripp is being tried for protecting herself and taping her own conversations while the court is making Clinton look like the victim. The blind fold has not only slipped off the eyes of Lady Justice… it has fallen around her neck and is strangling our judicial process.

This is a dark day in our American history when a citizen is prosecuted for bringing truth to the light.

The Year 2000 Presidential elections will go down in history as the year of the double standards.

The health of Senator John McCain is questioned, while President Clinton was never required to released his medical records. McCain has released his.

George W. is castigated for not knowing a Jeopardy question while Al Gore’s dumb quotes are making the rounds on the Internet, without one word in the mainstream press.

Like the one where he says, “It isn’t pollution that’s harming the environment. It’s the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.” or “[It’s] time for the human race to enter the solar system.”

My favorite one is when he said, “I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn’t study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people.”

Buchanan and Bauer are called extremists when Gore compared the U.S. Army to a “fascist, totalisarian regime,” and thinks cars should be eliminated. And Steve Forbes is accused of being wooden and lacking charisma while we are supposed to believe that Al Gore is Mr. Personality.

Something tells me though, none of this hypocrisy is lost on the voters… but we’ll see next November if the hyprocisy spin worked.

The Democratic Leadership Council wants Al Gore to pretend to be more moderate and to ignore his liberal base. It sounds as though they have been talking to the Republicans.

It must be a party conspiracy to disenfranchise both wings from their parties and pretend to be moderate… just for a season. With the Republican party… that is not difficult. They have been playing that role for eight years now. But for the Democrats to suddenly “pretend” to be moderate when all the indicators point to the contrary is a little duplicitous.

If the plan of both parties is to ignore their bases and play to the middle of the road, the two bases have a few options. They can take their marbles and go home. They can stick with their parties, and chosen candidates, and play the game by their rules… or they can begin educating people in the middle and make a real difference.

Everyone gets one vote, however, they have the power to influence thousands more. But don’t leave it to the candidates. No one, even in middle America, will believe that Al Gore is a moderate… unless it is repeated enough.

Well the congress finally caved and handed their wallet to the UN mugger. We are expected to pay 25% of the total UN budget… but get only one vote.

Do you know that some member countries pay as little as $10,000 a year and also have one vote… just like the U.S.? But one thing the U.S. did that was really smart, was to tie conditions to the money given to the U.N. banditos.

One of the conditions was to cut spending… trim the budget. And if they violate this spending cap, $565 million that the UN claims we owe, will not be paid. We also want our share of the budget reduced by three percent and our share of the peacekeeping operations reduced by six percent. And we want a position on the budget committee to oversee spending. The big question is, can the U.S. taxpayers do the same thing?

Can we refuse to pay our taxes until spending is cut, taxes are cut, and we have a greater voice in what our money is spent on? This is a wonderful precedent that all Americans should learn from.

The House Committee on Government Reform subpoenaed a memo from a White House staffer saying that if Clinton granted clemency to the sixteen Puerto Rican terrorists, that it would help Al Gore win the Puerto Rican vote.

Well, why stop there? If votes are more important than national security and human lives what about granting Timothy McVeigh clemency? He could garner support from all the fringe militia groups. What about rapists and murders? But the group to appeal to, that would guarantee him victory, are the income tax evaders.

Thirty percent of the wage earners in America never file a tax return. He could grant clemency to all of them and be a sure winner in 2000. In fact, I am sure that most Americans would volunteer to be a part of that select group to gain clemency from the President. Even if it meant they would have to vote for Al Gore to express their thanks.

What the administration has really done, is insult the intelligence and integrity of the vast majority of the Puerto Rican population, who are law-abiding, and reject violence as a means to political end. But heh… anything for a vote.

The liberal media is dying to find some infraction to pin on George W. Bush. They are searching the archives for proof of an arrest thirty years ago. And everyone is still trying to figure out who is in that photo.

But this is actually good news. We are finally sending an important message to the youth of America that what you do today… could affect your future. You will be held accountable for your actions. That is… if you run on a platform of values.

Now, on the other hand, we have children in Arlington, Virginia who are using the current President as a paradigm of immorality. They are opting for his personal favorite “sexual encounter” because, well, he does it, and they are taught that it is “safe.” They don’t feel there is anything wrong with it, because America told them there was nothing wrong with it. After all . ..it was performed in the privacy of the Oval office. And his wife even defended him by saying he was a victim of the vast right wing conspiracy.

So it is refreshing, and encouraging, that the press is finally holding a presidential candidate accountable for his actions and finally sending the right message to our kids.

As George W. Bushes advisors convince him to move to the middle of the political road, he is telling conservatives, that not only are they irrelevant… they are a pain in the neck for him.

Not a problem… this has happened before… I call it the Rosa Parks theory of Republican politics. Her money was good enough to spend in local stores or stimulate the economy, but when it came to having a voice in the process, of being considered a viable and necessary addition to society, she was relegated to the back of the racial bus… just as conservatives are being relegated to the back of the political bus while they are expected to write checks to the heir apparent.

And then Republicans scratch their heads when Pat Buchanan considers running on a separate ticket, or when conservatives like Bob Smith leave the party, or when Gary Bauer wins straw polls.

George W. needs to ask himself, as he spins his inclusion rhetoric to everyone… but his base: Can he win without conservatives? Does he need them? Does he want them? Does he think they have an option of not voting for him?

Well, the answer is historical… its in the memoirs of the tree his apple just fell from… His dad’s.

I recall someone with the NRA telling me years ago about a bill they were pushing in the Senate, and the night before the vote they learned that Ted Kennedy was going to support for it.

Knowing how consistently opposed to their legislation he had always been, they became concerned. Something must be wrong with it. They must not have worded it properly. The red flags went up.

The same scrutiny SHOULD be occurring in the Bush camp concerning Bill Clinton AND James Carville’s defense of his trashing the conservatives in the Republican party. Suddenly the democrats are concerned about the Republican frontrunner? Everyone is nodding in agreement that the base of the Republican party, and the majority of the electorate in America, conservatives… are meanspirited.

So when James Carville says, referring to conservatives, that “Bush knows everyone hates those clowns,” that somehow that is not meanspirited. Well maybe those conservative clowns, who are necessary for any election, need to find a new circus to play with.

But maybe that is exactly what Clinton and Carville are hoping for. Is it what Bush is hoping for too?

While in China I was struck by an incredible contradiction. I always thought that one of the main tenants of communism was that the state replaced all religion with atheism. And of course there are thousands of stories coming out of China about religious persecution against the Christians and particularly the home churches.

We were guests of the government at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the third anniversary of a Buddhist temple and the largest jade Buddha in the world. The speakers were the communist party leaders who pointed with pride at the temple and statue and invited all the special guests to come into the temple.

We discovered that the government pays for the upkeep of the temples and they pay the monks who live and worship there. We saw them lighting incense, bowing to the statue and paying homage to a 280 ton piece of jade.

So, not only has a wall of separation between church and state never been erected… the state-sponsored religion is Buddhism. But I always thought Buddhist were peace loving and never hurt a living thing. Why then are they beating, imprisoning, and killing Christians? Is that really what Buddhism stands for? Just curious.
