Watching the 6:00 news on Channel 4 (Washington, DC) I witnessed VP Al Gore speaking at an African-American church urging their support for him in the Presidential election and President Clinton in one of many African-American churches that he visited that day urging them to support Al Gore. No comment was made by the Channel 4 newsteam other than to report these visits as “normal” occurences on the presidential campaign trail. George W. Bush was reported to have “attended” church. What amazes me is that these non-partisan visits are accepted without comment. However, the Christian Coalition, in complete compliance with the IRS directives for a non-profit organization while providing balanced information without endorsing a candidate, is slapped with the “separation of church of state” label and hauled off to court. Evidently, free speech does exist in America – as long as you support the liberal agenda espoused by the Democratic Party. Any other type of speech is squelched. In short, the end(keeping Democrats in the White House and Congress) justifies the means. Will there be an investigation of the African-American churches shown on Channel 4 on Sunday? Not likely. I would hope so. That way I can tell may daughter that, yes, just as our founding fathers said, “all people are created equal”.

Deeply Saddened
Thanks for your letter regarding the abortion pill. I truly believe our country won’t see the ramifications of their actions until a complete collapse of our system and government as caused by the inhuman slaughter of future generations (tax payers, workers, docters, etc.) — all at a cost of pleasure and pride.

Being a man, I suppose I have not much right to participate in the abortion debate, but I think the time has now come to just let this thing lie. This is not easy for me to say, given my faith and firm belief that abortion is an abomination. But over the past quarter century, I have seen a host of good, solid Republican candidates for office mauled over this issue. In the final analysis, this issue is a very personal one and the new pill — odious as its intended use is to some of us — FINALLY gives us a chance to get this debate out of the political arena where the media and the left wingers have used it as a club to defeat good candidates (such as Matt Fong in the California Senatorial race against Dumb-o-crat Barbara Boxer in 1998) and get it back where it belongs — in the personal consciences of women through church and other influences.

Ultimately, the choice of a woman to mutilate herself due to her own irresponsibility is her own. Remember Abraham Lincoln’s admonition against making laws which CANNOT be enforced. He warned us (and it has come to pass) that such attempts ultimately result in utter contempt for the rule of law, i.e. that which separates us from the creatures of the jungle. I would ask you to please consider carefully whether we shouldn’t just continue to work for what we feel is right OUTSIDE the courts and the halls of the legislatures (federal and state) where, unfortunately, this battle has been lost. Doesn’t it make sense to let go of this alligator before it swallows up what slim chances we still have left to elect good and decent people to Congress and the White House?

Thank you for an encouraging perspective and reminder. If Gore wins we will really need the thought you expressed in today’s commentary. I realized that even if Bush wins this time, that darkness will only be delayed. There will be future elections (if Bush wins) and unless the Democratic Party completely implodes as a result of losing, the next Democratic President will likely be a terror. I know this is a dark view, but even during Reagan, the culture continued it downward spiral and a place was prepared for the likes of Clinton. That does not mean I am discouraged. Freedom and righteousness are worth fighting for and Christ told us to expect persecution. Especially if we are in the last days.

I have been enjoying your commentaries as ever. I hope you enjoyed the article from the London Times. I liked your article below. Not only does abortion cause infertility, but it now has been 100% linked to breast cancer. In an article from Citizen Link it was cited by a pro abortion research group in England that women who have an abortion before the age of 18 or after the age of 35 have a 100% higher chance of getting breast cancer; for women with a history of breast cancer in their family there was a 100% higher chance of getting breast cancer, and for women with no family history of b. cancer there was a 50% higher chance of getting breast cancer. The link is as definitive as smoking being linked to lung cancer–but the clinicians do not tell a woman that info. when she hands over her $250. Next time I come across an article citing sources I will forward it for your interests. Abortion kills the mother as well as the child. Thank you in advance for getting the word out if you choose to let the public know, and thank you always for your interesting commentaries.

John, Lord Taylor Of Warwick :: Warwick United Kingdom
Re: your daily commentary of 18 July, the issue of rap music and offensive lyrics has been much the subject of debate in England this week.  It is important because, although it is mainly performed by black artists, it is popular across the racial divide; furthermore white rappers, like Eminem are starting to cash in. Like in England this stuff was originally fueled by anger and the black subculture. We have even fewer positive black role models here than you have in the US. The irony is that its forebears down the years- hip hop, funk and soul- came out of gospel which came out of the black churches. It is a classic case of the devil polluting what was originally uplifting to the Lord.

I strongly believe that the black churches in the UK and the US need to reclaim this music in His name. There is no doubt that powerful soul music with uplifting lyrics can inspire a generation- black and white- as muscians like Andrae Crouch and even Curtis Mayfield have shown. The fact that most rap artists have very short careers, end up bankrupt or shot dead e.g. Biggie Small, speaks volumes to the fact that rap is a very dirty distortion of its original musical roots.

Nina: I knew you’d pick up on this incredible story. Sometimes I think I’m living on Mars, but even Martians would think what is going on in this country is bizarre. Another point on this disgusting NAMBLA/ACLU story that all the news media seems to be missing is that HAVING SEX WITH A MINOR IS A CRIME IN EVERY STATE IN THE UNION. So, the NAMBLA website is wantonly advocating criminal activity. You can’t yell “fire” in a movie theatre (because it would endanger public safety and incite a stampede). But according to the ACLU, deviants have the right to yell “Let’s sodomize little boys.” Incredibly, this is the same ACLU that categorically refuses, as a matter of ACLU policy, to defend 2nd Amendment rights. The 2nd Amendment is not worth defending ever, but the supposed “right” of pedophiles to advocate criminal activity against little boys is sacrosanct. What am I missing? This is the same crowd that believes that American boys would be better off if NAMBLA members were Boy Scout leaders, and many of our largest corporations are siding with that point of view.

Another home run! It’s so wonderful to start my day with your excellent commentaries!! The answer, of course, is he does not support any such rights to “choose,” other than the one involving the slaughter of innocent human children. Amazing how so many Americans fall for this claptrap. I wonder if in his private moments he shakes his head in disbelief at how easily so many Americans are prosletyzed? It’s like taking candy from babies. Another interesting item in his speech the other night that would make a perfect commentary–he kept referring to how he was going to protect us all from those “big, powerful interests” that get in our way, blocking our prosperity and happiness. Well, the only “big interest” that is perpetually in my way is THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, which he proposes to make even bigger and more powerful. I have yet to feel that General Motors, Allied Chemical, Texaco or any other bigger corporation is in my way!! Americans need to know that this is the most important election in our generation. Al Gore and his ilk are dangerous opportunists who have launched a class warfare battle in this nation that threatens to tear us assunder. keep up the good work, Nina!

Guns From Down Under
Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent. Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent. Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent!)

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned guns in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns.

You won’t see this data on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the state Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience proves it. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.Take note Americans, before it’s too late!

Politics, Religion, & Abortion
I found the letter “God is now back in politics “very interesting and true, I sent it to a fellow I work with that believes in woman’s rights to have an abortion and proclaims to be a Catholic — but does not believe in any thing that the Bible teaches — only believing there is a God.

In all I was defending the right to life for the child in the mothers womb, and asked about morals and ethics. He let me know that that people should be able to do what ever they want and ethics are some ones opinion in life and should not come into the picture. I then asked him if it would be alright to take his life if some one thinks it is what they should do, when you get old and can’t take care of your self! he could not answer the question. The conversation started when I stated that I watched Gore’s daughter on television, and in her speech she stated that her dad will stand up for woman’s right’s , and I stated that Gore or her don’t have the right to kill children with an abortion! I also stated that some rights are only Gods. He told me that it is religious people that are screwing up this Country, and that there is to be a separation between Religion and politics.

His wife then sent the following:

Dear Mike,

Imagine my surprise when I came back home, from shopping, to find your message on my machine. Maybe intelligent people can agree to disagree, maybe not. If there is a more moral person on earth than Walt I would like to meet this person. As far as a person of Faith my husband, practices his Faith every day of his life. Since I am an Election Judge and try to keep my opinions to myself and try to be a fair Election Judge, I would rather you send Walt these types of messages to him on hotmail.com.

Again, maybe I give friends more credit than they deserve, I never expected to receive this message from you, we all have opinions that is why we live in this great country. My husband’s family being from Poland we are truly sensitive about this. As far as God is concerned we don’t need an introduction to him, he is in our lives every day, but its not something I push on anyone. We will meet our maker one way or another, even if it is just to check in.

— I never remember God declaring whether he was Republican, Democrat or Independent. We have never voted for a party, we have voted for the issues and the person, this is something I never thought friendship was based on anyway. If being a “LIBERAL”, means you care about your fellow man/woman, so be it.

Gillman Backs Both Parties?
Isn’t it interesting that Al Gore invited 12-year-old Billy Gillman to sing his popular country song, “One Voice” to close the DNC and he declined citing differences of opinion with the Democratic platform as his reason. (I’m sure at the urging of his parents) but if you go back to the tape of RNC, I’m pretty sure the song you hear being piped in after George W.’s speech is the same song. And if you haven’t heard the song, you really should try to listen to it.

Men — Necessary And Wanted
I think it is about time women put men, especially our young men and boys back up on the neccessary and wanted list. Frankly as a women who was for equal opportunity and let it be known, for fifty years, I am sick of seeing, hearing about and listening to women.

I am a half black half white male who believes that you message is so important to all Americans. We need to think of ourselves as individuals. The liberals are the ones that want to seperate all of us into “groups” and then say that only they can represent your “group”. Only by taking away someones individuality can they take away their FREEDOM.

56 Unhappy Founding Fathers
Hello, I truly enjoy reading your commentaries, they keep me informed on issues that all Christians should be aware of. Here, it is another forth of July to celebrate what are for fathers set forth, for us in the Country. I believe this is the greatest Nation in the world and I proud of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence. But I do wonder what will become of this Country and the Declaration of Independence when the Nation is governed by the United Nations.

For some reason it does not seem right that our for Fathers founded this Country and instated freedoms, a constitution and gave us Independence and there is some that are willing to give it away. I do believe if the 56 men were alive to see what the American people have done to there writings and how they are stated in the High School History books they would not only be appalled but would be alarmed and offended. As there was and is a reason they stated so clearly the need to teach the Bible in school.

Renaissance For Youth?
Nina, What the Renaissance Foundation stands for is outstanding. I am a 50-year-old father of 11 children (10 living, and still at home). Six years ago, I lost my beautiful home and my business due to emloyee and legal problems. My family has endured six years of extreme hardships–I have shed many tears for them, for my wife, and for our future. This period has caused me to do a tremendous amount of soul-searching. I have experienced a degree of past financial success with business, but I have found that the typical business environment does not feel right to me. It seems that the two dominating interests of my life are: returning our country to its foundational principles of individual freedom and limited government and my religious values. My driving desire is to help youth. Do you have any suggestions, and what are the possibilities of a Renaissance for Youth Foundation? Thank you for you time.

Pick Your Vice President
I agree wholeheartedly, either pick somebody as VP who is in-line with your platform and then run on the message that this is our platform and we believe in it OR pick somebody with differing opinions and run on the platform that you encourage new ideas and a diversity of opinions. Don’t however, pick somebody who is suppose to represent diversity and then have him change his tune in a matter of 2 weeks to sound exactly like the candidate. But then, this isn’t the first time that the Democratic Party has tried to have their cake and eat it too.

Lieberman & One World Religion
If I were the radical, Bible thumping, apocalypse-predicting, wing-nut that I am in fact…….

I would say that the selection of Lieberman, a religious person whose faith and moral judgements demand no moral actions is a precursor of the amoral One World Religion that will accompany the False Prophet and Anti-Christ. Fitting that the Dems bring it in.

Did you ever read Screwtape Letters where Screwtape says that the scientists in hell are working frantically to produce the Materialist Magician? The perfect blend of non-christian spiritualism and mechanistic atheism. The New-Agers come close, but the Global Warming, Zero-Population Growth Earth Worshippers are one iteration better. Screwtape said that they had excellent working models of the Materialist and the Magician separately, but that when they learned how to combine the two, the battle would all but be over.

Restore Character In Big House
As always, thank you for the wonderful work that you do. I hope you are both enjoying yourselves at the DNC. I’m sure as Bill and Hillary spoke last night, it came as quite a shock to you that the democrats accomplished so much in the last 8 years with the whole weight of the Republican Party dragging them down. *S*

Because you have a larger forum than I to reach people, I thought I would take my request to you. As I watch the talk shows and diatribe on the DNC, I am tired of the way they bring up the republicans call for honor and character in the White House and then immediately link it to sex and then just as quickly distance Al Gore from that incident. We (as Christians, Americans, and Republicans) need to continually remind them that the character issue is about perjury, white water, file gate, travel gate, missing e-mails, missing classified information, Communist campaign contributions, porn in the White House, etc. and Al Gore is not that distant from much of this, he was there and he was a part of it. I also don’t need to remind you that even for the things that Al Gore was not a part of, he has never taken a stand against the President and called him to the carpet for what he has done. I know that the republicans are trying to run a positive campaign and avoid the mudslinging but I think this dialogue has been noticeably absent and the American people who don’t listen to Nina May and Janet Parshall every day need to be reminded that “restoring character to the White House” is not just about sex.

Abstinence, Not Tax Dollars!
It is a shame that are tax dollars have and are being used is this manner. I for one don’t think the government and or the states should be paying for any contraceptives, abortions or any such things. I think you are right (the best thing is abstinence). If only the government would let us Christians teach morals, virtues, and what sex is according to the Holy Bible, the children would be taught responsibility for there actions in life. There are organizations like the Good Neighbor Fund that will not take a stand for pro-life and allow money to be used (in my point of view) improperly. If I’m wrong please let me know.

Rosy To Rough
Your perspective on the distortions and lies of the Clinton campaign usage of “…the economy, stupid” slogan in ’92 was excellent – as far at it went.

My unfulfilled expectation in reading through this commentary was that you would make mention of the clintonian disotortions and lies of the present campaign. The Clinton administration changed the reporting process to suppress the true picture. They succeed in giving us a false picture of a healthy economy, now. I am bewildered as to how the Bush side allows the obvious distortions and falsehoods.

If the Bush side wins there will be a sudden switch in the story, just the opposite from ’92. There will be an instant reversal of the economic “story” from rosy to rough. A Bush administration will take the blame for what has already occured.

Just take a look at the commodity prices since early ’99 as compared with today’s. Look at the economic lifeblood costs, in particular. I mean the cost of energy commodities – oil, coal and natural gas.I wonder if it will take eight years for someone like you to tell us about this?

Pro-life!
It saddens my heart to think that people that believe in abortions are so out of touch with life, and God, they are so insensitive they take a life long dream of some people that can’t have babies and snuff it out. A life that is in trusted to the mother and father that made it. (What happened to people being responsible for there actions)? If only people could reach into their hearts and bring out the love of Jesus, they could see the miracle of life. To me it is like seeing a mean spirited bully stomp on a beautiful flower that needs to be nurtured and protected. It’s to bad that we have small minded people running this Nation, that can’t or won’t stand up for the rights of the unborn, And at the least give them the right to life! There is a pro-abortion advertisement on TV and the gal talking, states: the pro-life people are insensitive!! Those people need to go back to school. The devil has sure blinded a lot of lost folks. I will keep praying for the lost.

Jeers To Capital Punishment
As you know, capital punishment is bad for both the guilty and the innocent, because it potentially deprives an individual of the opportunity to be saved. Killing is an unfortunate crime whether it’s committed against the innocent babies (who go straight to heaven) or against the aged, or any age in between, because no ones has the “moral” right (not even government) to either take away the life that God created, or to deprive a soul of the opportunity of repentance. Abortion is on that slippery slope of contraception, which is why the Church has always been against contraception.

And as you know, some contraceptions are abortifacients. Capital punishment is the taking of another life, the first of the innocent, then the second of the guilty. My mother used to say, “two wrongs, don’t make a right.”
